How the Idea of This Project Came About

 

It all started with an interest in the issue of communication and cognition: how do people learn about violence elsewhere? What is the dividing line between knowledge and rumour? How does that information filter through? Does everybody understand the same thing as the others? Are there multiple readings of the same event? Do people understand what they want to and not necessarily what is being conveyed? Is this a dialogue of the deaf? What does the threat of violence and contamination do to other national/ethnic/social groups? How do they react?
